Solid and engineered hardwood — the timeless, real-wood floor that adds genuine value to your home.
What This Is
What Hardwood means for your home
Hardwood is real wood — solid planks milled from a single piece of timber, or engineered planks with a genuine wood top layer over a stable core. It's the floor people think of when they hear "premium." It's warm, it ages beautifully, and it can be sanded and refinished decades down the road. We install both solid and engineered hardwood, nailed, glued, or floated depending on your subfloor and the product.
- Real wood grain — every plank is unique, no two are identical
- Can be refinished multiple times over a 50+ year lifespan
- Adds measurable resale value to your home
- Available in oak, maple, hickory, walnut, and more
Our crew at workWhy Choose This
Why hardwood
The honest reasons this floor makes sense — and where it doesn't.
Genuine Wood Grain
Real timber means real character — knots, grain variation, and warmth you can't fake with a print.
Refinishable for Decades
Scratched or dated? Hardwood can be sanded and re-stained instead of replaced. Try that with vinyl.
Boosts Resale Value
Buyers consistently rank hardwood as the most desirable flooring. It's an investment, not just a purchase.
40 Years of Wood Expertise
We've installed thousands of hardwood floors across the GTA. We know how wood behaves in our climate.
The Specs
Hardwood at a glance
No fluff — just the facts you need to decide.
How It Works
How we install it
Clear, simple, and predictable. You always know what's happening and what's next.
Acclimation
Wood needs to adjust to your home's humidity before install. We deliver the planks early and let them sit so they don't warp later.
Subfloor Prep
We level the subfloor, check moisture levels, and lay a moisture barrier where needed. A flat base is everything.
Layout & First Row
We plan the plank direction and stagger the joints so the floor looks intentional, not random. The first row sets the whole job.
Installation
Planks are nailed, glued, or clicked into place with tight seams and proper expansion gaps around the perimeter.
Trim & Finish
We install or re-fit baseboards and transitions, clean up every speck of dust, and walk you through care.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Solid hardwood or engineered — which should I choose?
Solid hardwood can be refinished more times but isn't recommended below grade (basements) because it warps with moisture. Engineered hardwood has a real wood top layer bonded to a stable core, so it handles humidity better and can often be installed below grade. We'll recommend the right one for your space.
Can I put hardwood in my basement?
Solid hardwood — no. Engineered hardwood — sometimes, depending on the product and your moisture levels. We test the subfloor first and won't install something that's likely to fail.
How long does hardwood take to install?
A single room is usually one day. A full home runs three to five days, plus a few days for the wood to acclimate before we start.
Will my hardwood floors scratch?
All real wood can scratch — that's part of its character. Harder species (hickory, maple) resist better than softer ones (pine). The good news: hardwood can be refinished to look new again, unlike vinyl or laminate.
